Postdoctoral Scholar Position: Marine Phytoplankton Remote Sensing

Summary: (1.0 FTE; 12-months) The Behrenfeld lab studies phytoplankton ecology and physiology using tools ranging from laboratory experiments, field studies, remote sensing, modeling, and theory. The lab is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to work on merging phytoplankton ecological theory with NASA Plankton Aerosol Cloud and ocean Ecosystem (PACE) satellite ocean color observations to develop understanding of phytoplankton community responses to environmental perturbations.

The position provides a competitive stipend and health insurance for up to three years, subject to satisfactory performance (https://gradschool.oregonstate.edu/postdocs).
Required Qualifications:

- PhD in a life science/computational field, completed by start of position.
- Demonstrated productivity, capacity for independent research, and intellectual creativity.
- Be eligible for postdoctoral scholar support at OSU (seehttps://gradschool.oregonstate.edu/postdocs/appointment-and-recruitment).

Preferred Qualifications:

- Research experience in plankton ecology, phytoplankton physiology, bio-optics, satellite remote sensing, numerical modeling, biodiversity theory.
- Research experience involving computer programming and analysis of large data sets.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
