The Adaptation Fund provides international financing for climate adaptation and resilience projects in eligible developing countries.

πŸ’§πŸŒΎπŸŒŠ Funding can support areas such as:
πŸ’§ Water management
🌾 Climate-resilient agriculture & food security
🌊 Coastal zone management
🌳 Ecosystem-based adaptation

πŸ’° HOW DOES THE FUNDING WORK?
⚠️ Important: Individuals, researchers and ordinary organizations generally cannot apply directly.

Project proposals must be submitted through an accredited:
πŸ›οΈ National Implementing Entity (NIE)
🌍 Regional Implementing Entity (RIE)
🌐 Multilateral Implementing Entity (MIE)

Once accredited, these institutions can submit adaptation projects and programmes for consideration by the Adaptation Fund Board.

🌱 LOCALLY LED ADAPTATION
The Adaptation Fund also supports Single-Country Locally Led Adaptation projects, with funding of up to:
πŸ’° US$5 MILLION per project/programme
This window is designed to strengthen locally led climate adaptation and resilience.

πŸ“… IMPORTANT UPDATE
Project and programme proposals are now accepted on a rolling basis.
This means there is no single annual application deadline for regular project and programme funding. Eligible proposals can be submitted through the appropriate accredited implementing entity and, once technically recommended, can move forward to an upcoming Adaptation Fund Board meeting.
