NASA’s SBG Mission is now EAGLE-VSWIR/TIR! Find out more at May 21st webinar:
The Surface Biology and Geology Mission in development at NASA’s Earth Science Division is newly rebranded EAGLE-VSWIR. Please join us for an EAGLE-VSWIR Community Webinar, Thu, May 21, 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM EDT for updates on the Mission. Register here and see below for information sent previously about the EAGLE-VSWIR announcement. As a reminder, if you would like to receive information from the EAGLE-VSWIR team going forward, please sign up for communications here.
Background: EAGLE was announced as a pair of Explorer Class missions: EAGLE-VSWIR and EAGLE-TIR. EAGLE-VSWIR will proceed immediately with a strict cost cap and a planned launch in less than 36 months. EAGLE-TIR is in reformulation for a future mission as well. While EAGLE draws heavily from the work done for SBG, these are new missions with different funding profiles, schedules, and mission structure. Please watch the updates from the NASA Earth Science Division to hear more about the future of the Earth System Observatory, anticipated competed teams, and other updates about ESD activities. We look forward to sharing more information in May about plans, schedules, and engagement opportunities as we all work to support NASA in this important endeavor.
