EU Ocean Data Webinar Series
EUMETSAT is jointly organising a series of ocean webinars in partnership with the Copernicus Marine Service (implemented by Mercator Ocean International), the European Marine Observation and Data Network  (EMODnet), the ECOP Programme, and the UN OD Coordination Office for Ocean Data Sharing.
Registration is open for the second webinar “Science and solutions for a clean, healthy, and resilient ocean” on 10 October at 14:30 CEST. For more information, please visit the webinar series website: https://eudata4oceandecade.eu/

Marine User Days
This is an in-person event hosted by EUMETSAT in partnership with the European Commission, the European Space Agency, the European Centre of Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, Mercator Ocean International and the Copernicus Marine Service.  It will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 5 to 6 November and it will bring together existing and prospective users from across the diverse marine user community.
The deadline to register is 10 October.

Petition to keep Sentinel-2A Operational

For Aquatic Remote Sensing Community Awareness

Sentinel-2C satellite was recently launched to replace the older Sentinel-2A.  The Copernicus program intends to cease Sentinel-2A operations when Sentinel-2C becomes operational for cost reasons. However, having three operational satellites instead of two would increase revisit and largely improve the quality of the generated maps and products, and the reliability of operational services based on Sentinel-2 data.

You may choose to sign International Ocean Color Coordination Group’s online petition asking the Copernicus program of the EU to extend the operations of S2A for as long as possible.

Call for abstracts: 7th LAKES Workshop, Milan Italy!

Workshop announcement: The 7th LAKES Workshop on Parametrization of
Lakes in Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and Climate Modelling

Call for abstracts

This workshop, that will be held in Milan (Italy) from November 20 to
22, 2024, explores the interactions between inland water bodies, such
as lakes and reservoirs, and the atmosphere, in order to improve the
coupling between these two key components of the hydrological cycle.
The workshop also aims to bring together scientists working on various
aspects of lake-atmosphere feedback and the interaction of lakes with
regional and global climate. It is open to researchers from related
disciplines such as physical limnology, remote sensing of inland
waters, atmospheric physics and hydrology.

All relevant information is available at the following address:
https://lakesmilan2024.irea.cnr.it/

Interested researchers are invited to share their research findings
and receive valuable feedback.

Abstract submission deadline: 30 September 2024
